APTelecom is progressing plans to extend the Central Pacific Cable route into American Samoa, further strengthening the network’s reach across the region.
This extension is designed to enhance connectivity, introduce greater route diversity, and support more resilient digital infrastructure for Pacific Island communities.
As an expansion of the existing Central Pacific Cable route, the addition of American Samoa reinforces the broader vision of connecting underserved and strategically important markets across the South Pacific. The territory is expected to play a key role within the network, supporting improved access to reliable, high-capacity connectivity for communities, governments, and businesses.
American Samoa Telecommunications Authority will act as the local counterparty, supporting coordination and contributing to the project’s development. The initiative is supported by U.S. Department of War funding and advocacy from the United States Indo-Pacific Command, reflecting the importance of secure and dependable communications infrastructure across the region.
This extension aligns with the Central Pacific Cable initiative’s broader focus on strengthening regional resilience, improving connectivity outcomes, and supporting long-term economic and social development across Pacific Island communities.
